The Brown Alumni Magazine, despite winning awards and accolades for their excellent stories, was creaking along on an antiquated content-management system built in 1999. I redesigned the site and rebuilt it from the ground up, using Joomla, an open-source CMS, to create a rich and dynamic site with powerful features for both the readers and the editors. Since launching the new version of the site, the Alumni Magazine's number of pages read per visitor has doubled.
